The 18 most popular Hindi-Urdu songs of Jan-April 2015

Notes of caution

i) Except for the Binaca Geet Mala years, all of Indpaedia’s annual charts for Hindi-Urdu songs are based on an amalgam of all publicly available charts for that year. This has been done to ensure total objectivity. Typically, we have consulted at least three charts for every recent year.

However, as on 1 May 2015 no other chart was ready for the Jan-April 2015 period.

ii) Bollywood Hungama does not have its own charts. Nor does it award ranks to songs. Indpaedia has calculated the number of ‘times played’ from the above link, combining the listenership of all versions of each song into one, to arrive at the ranks mentioned under IP. Incidentally, this link will take you to songs that were released between 2012 and April 2015.

We looked at the 240 songs from this period that had been played the most often. Of these 22 were from 2015, including three songs with two versions each and one song that had been listed twice. It was thus that we arrived at the 18 most popular Hindi-Urdu songs of Jan-April 2015.

iii) The combined listenership of all versions of Too hai and Tere bin on Bollywood Hungama has helped them, respectively, pip the two top hits of Jan-April, namely, Sooraj and Chittiyaan.

iv) This list is not likely to be updated till the end of the year.
