Shah Rukh Khan was the 8th highest paid actor in the world in August 2016, according to Forbes. Shah Rukh did not feature in the illustrious Forbes list in 2015.

This caused surprise in India because at the Indian—and not just Hindi-Urdu—box office Salman Khan, film actor had been no.1 since 2014 {beating SRK by a whisker}, 2015 and 2016 {beating SRK by a wide margin in both years}).

When asked Forbes to comment, they said that Shah Rukh Khan continued to rule not only through his box office collections with the lead role in the hit film 'Dilwale' and many others, but also earning multimillion-dollar upfront fees and a cut of the back-end for his efforts. He also cashes in on endorsement deals for dozens of brands most Americans have likely never heard of.

While Deepika Padukone was the only Indian actress to feature in top 20, leave top 10, SRK is not alone in the list. He is followed by other actors like Akshay Kumar on number 10, Salman Khan, film actor on number 14 and Amitabh Bachchan on number 18.
