Bullied during schooldays

Bengali cineastes

You won't believe these celebs were bullied in school/ ETimes.in | Feb 9, 2023

Take some inspiration from these [Tollygunge] celebs and help your kids overcome bullying.

Ankush The actor was an underdog as a child. He was bullied by his seniors at school and also by his friends in the neighbourhood. But, he surpassed his childhood experiences with a lot of determination and strong mental strength. The actor managed overcome insecurity, fear, and low self-esteem to hold his head high. He quickly learnt how to make firm eye contact.

Paoli Dam The seasoned actor too was targeted by fellow students for her skinny figure and dark complexion and it was difficult for Paoli to handle all these during her school days. She used to come back home at the end of the day and cry a lot. Bullies often look for an easy target—someone who will react to their taunts and teases. As a result, they often steer clear of kids that are comfortable in their own skin. Paoli during her school days learnt it in the hard way and realized self-esteem is the key to stand against bullying.

Parno Mittrah High school is hard anywhere. And to be coming of age, to understand your body as a woman and at the same time, to be devalued for something you can't change or you are not even aware of the fact that this was something she should feel embarrassed about. That’s exactly what happened with Parno in her teenage days when she used to be bullied for her skin complexion.

Soham During his school days Soham was a bit sluggish and temperamental due to which he got a lot of flak from friends and acquaintances. He even appeared in a health drink advertisement at a young age and for this was often taunted by others. However, the actor eventually learnt that bullies are more likely to back off if a potential target looks them right in the eye. While speaking about bullying he once said that bullies are looking for targets that are anxious, insecure and more likely to look down or avoid eye contact.

Srabanti Chatterjee The actress was a slow learner. So, he faced a difficult time in school. A little Srabanti would often get teased for her flaws. But she tackled his past problems with a strong heart. With age, she realized that being a victim of bullying does not define who they are as a person. Her parents played a key role in helping the actress find ways to move out of a painful situation and get through it.
