Education plays an important role in empowering young minds and helping them to face life challenges independently. It helps in developing their self-confidence, enhancing knowledge and honing their skills. It is needless to say that education is crucial in shaping the country’s future through young minds. So, it is also essential for parents to choose the best institute for their children. With the pandemic looming large since last year, even schools and colleges have undergone an immense change in their ways of imparting knowledge. They have adapted themselves to this change by using technology while holding online classes, conducting examinations to help the students adapt to the “new normal”.

The two years of higher secondary education are stepping stones to a student’s future. This is the time when every student gives their utmost effort and seriousness into building the foundation of their career. And choosing the right institute helps them to accelerate towards the same. To help the students move in the right direction to becoming successful in their respective field, The Times Group has announced the Times Top Senior Secondary School Survey 2021 to help you pick the best institute for your kids’ future. The research agency Avance India conducted a survey across various schools in West Bengal and Odisha to compile the best schools in the region. Avance India (Avance Field & Brand solutions LLP) is a boutique research and consulting firm focusing on offering high standard Insights. To arrive at the analysis and final ranking of the Times-Senior Secondary School Ranking Survey 2021 in their respective categories in East Zone (West Bengal & Odisha), the firm used three major modules and helped to curate the final results.

Research Methodology

The survey had three major modules to arrive at the analysis and final ranking, i.e. Desk Research, Perceptual and Factual survey (Participatory Survey). With its innovative approach, data integrity and transparent process, Avance India conducted the research using three modules:

Desk research- A comprehensive list of schools was generated with the help of the internet, magazines and other publications.

Perceptual Survey- A perception questionnaire was administered to respondents. And they were asked to give ratings for only those schools they were aware of and included them in their list of top schools in their zone. Respondents were provided with a list of parameters to evaluate the schools & rate on a scale of 1-10, where 1 means inadequate & 10 means excellent. 5 different stakeholders were taken into consideration for the perceptual survey, viz. teachers, alumni, parents of aspiring students, parents of existing students and students. More than 500 stakeholders were contacted and shared their perception.

Factual Survey- More than 200 schools were sent the factual data questionnaire and then rigorously followed up telephonically. The factual data sheet focused on the categories like General Information, Infrastructure & facilities, Teachers, Potential to network, Exchange programs and global exposure and Awards.

-Best efforts were made to reach every school in East Zone; however, any school which expressly stated that it did not wish to participate in the survey were excluded from the survey.

-Any school that did not send a complete “Fact-Sheet” within the allotted time was assigned an average Factual score for calculating their overall ranking.

-Only CHSE (Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha) schools were considered.

The Times School Survey for West Bengal & Odisha has been conducted by Avance India.
