He was minister for social justice and empowerment then and has been rewarded with a continued run as cabinet ministerThe 71-year-old Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh joined the Bharatiya Jan Sangh in 1962. He spent 10 months in jail for participating in the 1968-71 workers’ agitation and was also detained during the Emergency.
