Vernon Rylands Parton (2 October 1897-- 31 December 1974) was an English chess enthusiast and productive chess variation inventor, his most renowned version being Alice Chess. Many of Parton's variations were encouraged by the imaginary characters and stories in the jobs of Lewis Carroll.
Parton's early education derived from his dad's colleges, where he also helped. Parton's dad was headmaster of Cannock Grammar School as well as primary and proprietor of a little international boarding school for youngsters. After completing mathematics at Chester Training University, Parton went back to his father's college to provide personal guideline to older kids in Latin, French, German, English, stenography, typing, accounting, and mathematics. In the 1920s he was left in charge of the school while his father returned to instruct in state colleges. Illness slashed brief Parton's teaching occupation.
In 1960 Parton moved from Cannock to Liverpool, in to a terraced residence near Dime Lane, and published a set of 9 monographs from 1961 to 1974 (additionally 1975 posthumously) describing his inventions.
