Nayantara (born 18 November 1984 as Diana Mariam Kurian) is a film actress, who appears in South Indian films. She made her acting debut in the2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare and followed with the successful Vismayathumbathu (2004) before foraying into Tamil and Telugu cinema.

She made her debut into Tamil cinema with Ayya (2005), and later that year appeared in the commercially successful Ghajini. She gained fame as a lead actress with films such as Chandramukhi (2005), Billa (2007), Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010) in particular, making herself one among the most sought after actresses in Tamil cinema.[3] She debuted in Telugu with Lakshmi (2006) and featured in successful ventures like Tulasi (2007), Dubai Seenu (2007), Adurs (2010), Simha (2010) and later in2010, made her Kannada film debut through the blockbuster Super. Her portrayal of Sita in Sri Rama Rajyam (2011) earned her Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress and Nandi Award for Best Actress. After a sabbatical in2011-'12, she achieved further success with the Tamil films Raja Rani and Arrambam (both2013).

Description

Nayantara was born in Thiruvalla, Kerala to Malayali Syrian Christian parents Kurian Kodiyattu and Omana Kurian. Her brother, Leno, who is nine years elder to her, lives in Dubai. As her father was a Air Force official, she first shifted to Bangalore. She then studied in various parts of India, mainly in North India. She did her schooling in Chennai, Jamnagar, Gujarat and Delhi. Following his retirement, they settled in Kerala, where she continued her college studies, at the Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in Kerala. In Tiruvalla, she studied at Balikamadom Girls Higher Secondary School and then attended Marthoma College for her bachelor's degree in English Literature. She has said that she would have become a chartered accountant if not an actress

While studying at college, Nayantara was working as a part-time model. She was spotted by director Sathyan Anthikkad, who had seen some of her modelling assignments and approached her to play a pivotal role opposite Jayaram in his film Manassinakkare (2003). Although she turned down the offer initially, as she was not interested in films, she gave in eventually and agreed to do "just that one movie". Manassinakkare went on to become a high financial success and she continued to receive acting offers. Her both releases in2004, Natturajavu by Shaji Kailas and Fazil's psychological thriller Vismayathumbathu saw her co-starring alongside Mohanlal; while she played the protagonist's adopted sister in the former, she portrayed a ghost in the latter. Her performance in Vismayathumbathu, in particular, was lauded, with critics claiming that she had "stolen the thunder with her author-backed role",and was "the revelation of the film". She also acted opposite Mammootty in Thaskara Veeran and Rappakal.

Love life

Simbu

In May 2014, Simbu who broke up his relation with Hansika Motwani a few months before, started to rediscover his lost love for his ex girlfriend Nayanthara. The two were spotted partying happily together along with Amala Paul and RJ Ramya at Trisha's birthday party.

The cute couple who had broken up after a two year long relation a few years before, started working together in director Pandiaraj's 'Idhu Namma Aalu'. The ex couple seem to be getting along with each other and could well be enroute to reviving their love life

Prabhu Deva

The much-hyped relationship of actress Nayanthara and director-actor-choreographer Prabhu Deva came to an end in 2013. But in 2014 it looked like the pretty actress was still in love with Prabh Deva and so hasn't removed the tattoo on her left hand which read 'Prabhu' (with P in English and rest of the name in Tamil).

There has been a buzz even before, that two are still in love together and might be taking advantage of getting a better pay for her, to start acting again after the so called break-up.

Ganesh Venkataraman

In June 2014 there were speculations that Nayantara was seeing Ganesh Venkataraman. The model and actor who is known for his role in Abhiyum Naanum is doing an important role in Nayanthara starrer Thani Oruvan. When contacted, Ganesh Venkataraman has denied it as mere rumour and said, being colleagues definitely romance brewed between them.

Marriage with Vignesh Shivan?

The Times of India reported in May 2015: ‘After breaking up with Simbu, Nayan fell in love with Prabhu Deva. In fact, so madly was she in love with him that she even converted from Christianity to Hinduism for his sake. Nayanthara had moved on from that relationship as well after things didn't work out properly. But the latest buzz doing the rounds is that the sexy siren has reportedly exchanged wedding vows with Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivan recently in a hush-hush ceremony.

‘While there has been no official confirmation of the wedding, it is reported that the wedding took place in a church in Cochin. The wedding ceremony is said to have been kept a tight secret and very few people were invited for it. Nayanthara was then shooting for the Vignesh-directed Tamil action-comedy Naanum Rowdydhaan with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The buzz is that the two fell fond of each other in the sets and their love blossomed. She had even gifted a luxury car to the director who is a year younger to the pretty actress.’
