YSRC’s Mangalagiri legislator Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, who is likely to take over as chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), sparked a political storm by announcing that former chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu would be evicted from his house. He said the building where Naidu has been staying was illegal as it was built on the Krishna riverbed.

A few days ago, Naidu had written to the state’s YSRC government, seeking permission to use ‘Praja Vedika’, an extension of his residential building, for official purposes to meet party workers. Naidu, as the leader of the opposition, enjoys the status of a cabinet minister. He had sought utilisation of the building complex as part of his official entitlement. While the state government was yet to respond to the former CM’s request, Reddy, who defeated Naidu’s son and political heir Nara Lokesh in the recent assembly polls, said Naidu would be evicted from his residence. “The building is owned by an industrialist and the previous state government had leased it for Naidu as his official residence,” he said.

Reddy had earlier moved the high court over the constructions made on the right bank of Krishna River in Guntur. Reddy alleged that all the houses constructed on the riverbank, including that of Naidu, were illegal.
