New Delhi : All the eight Metro Rail Corporations, which are 50:50 joint venture Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) of the central government and state government concerned, are currently running in losses, the housing and urban affairs ministry informed the Rajya Sabha.


The eight such entities include Delhi, Kochi, Maharashtra and Noida metro rail corporations. The ministry said to make these ventures profitable, the Centre has issued Metro Rail Policy-2017 for systematic planning and implementation of Metro Rail systems in comprehensive and sustainable manner.


It also said none of the Metro Rail corporations has raised money through bond market in last five years to finance capital costs.
