Note: National, provincial and district boundaries have changed considerably since 1908. Typically, old states, ‘divisions’ and districts have been broken into smaller units, and many tahsils upgraded to districts. Some units have since been renamed. Therefore, this article is being posted mainly for its historical value.

Kangundi Village

Village in the zamindari tahsil of the same name in North Arcot District, Madras, situated in 12 degree 46' N. and 78 degree 27' E. Population (1901), 637. It was once the chief place in the neighbourhood and the residence of the zamindar of kangundi, but has been depopulated by fever and famine. It lies at the base of a precipitous hill, crowned with the ruins of a fort which must have been a place of great strength. The zamindar's old palace is also an imposing pile.
