Jaynagar Village

Village in the Madhubani subdivision of Dar- bhangi District, Bengal, situated in 26 degree 35' N. and 86° 9' E., a few miles south of the Nepal frontier, and a little east of the river Kamla. Population (1901), 3,551. The village contains a mud fort attributed to Ala-ud-din, king of Bengal (1493-15 18), and said to have been con- structed to resist the incursions of the hill tribes. Near the fort is an encampment made by the British during the Nepal War.
