Pune : Anish Bhanwal displayed both patience and swiftness to win his first World Cup medal, five years after he started competing in the senior category. The Haryana shooter, 20, bagged the bronze medal in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo.

Anish qualified for the ranking round after shooting 581 (294 + 287). I n the ranking round, he shot 12, but was tiedwith French shooter Yan Chesnel. The shooters had to go for three rounds of shootoff, as the first two were tied at 3 and 4 shots each. In the last round of shootoff, Anish hit 4 targets while the French shooter got only 2. 
“It is tough for any athlete to stay motivated without winning. Not getting a medal at the World Cup was bothering me,” Anish told TOI after the match.
