BAND PROFILE:

'Alobo Naga and the band' is made up of five very talented and typical young Naga men. Nagaland has the reputation of being perhaps the most musical state in India. And considering the fact that India itself is a virtual treasure of musical styles and traditions that's no mean feat! Dimapur, the town where the band originates, has been at the center of the musical revolution which has been progressively overtaking the state. From Bach and Beethoven to the Black Eyed Peas and Maroon 5's 'Moves like Jagger', Nagaland is no stranger to any genre you can think of. 'Alobo Naga and the band' by establishing themselves as heavyweights in this environment of musical explosion has earned their stripes. After all the critics here are as unforgiving as they come! Formed in 2010 they have been making more and more noise, of the good kind of course. While their roots are firmly entrenched in the contemporary progressive rock genre, they nevertheless appreciate and are quick to incorporate from any other genre.

ALOBO NAGA

The main Vocalist of the group, Alobo Naga holds a grade 8 certificate in Concert performance in Contemporary Vocals, from University of Rock School, London. Prior to the band's formation, Alobo was already an established pop musician, He is at ranked at 6th spot nationwide at Gospel/Christian music on www.Reverbnation.com, besides being a performing artist & a composer, he is also a music teacher at the Furtados School of music, one of the premiere institutes of the country.

Recently he won the Best Folk Fusion song Award in the Nagaland Music Award 2011 for his song "Kumsujulo" from his Solo debut album. It is interesting to note that while Alobo might be considered the main vocalist of the band, the other members themselves are formidable singers and frequently lend their vocals to the songs.

AKUM JAMS

Akum is the lead guitarist of the band. Formerly with the much lauded band 'Melodrama', Akum was featured by 'TNT' magazine as one of the gen next guitarists from the north east. The man himself bears a striking resemblance to the bad boys of western music with his tattoos and a very 'Rolling Stone'ish' vibe. However, his band mates will tell you that he is far from being the juvenile bad boy.

FUNG WALLING

The Bass maestro of the band Fung is diminutive and soft spoken, yet morphs into a performing machine on stage. Before the band happened he was a member of the successful Christian band 'Blended For Him'. He works at 'Furtado's music Dimapur'.

SUMIKA

DJ Sumika, as he is popularly known, brings the club to the band! A Turntablist with the meanest skills, he most definitely adds chutzpah! to the band's music. With his added mix the band's music very audibly reaches into the playing fields of international bands like 'Linkin Park' and 'Incubus'. He also teaches music at 'Furtado's'.
