His ideas and innovations have transformed the television industry and made him the face of Indian broadcasting. He was elected president of the Indian Broadcasting Federation in September.
He has taken sports coverage in India to new heights in 2014 by backing the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)-that had the second-highest viewership among sports tournaments this year-and the Indian Super League football, which was beamed in five different languages. His treatment of PKL allowed the forgotten sport itself to catch on.
Under him, Star TV has emerged as a creative powerhouse whose revenue has grown by 32 per cent CAGR over the last five years. It has expanded its footprint to reach over 650 million viewers a week. In September, he purchased Mumbai's second most expensive property- a 3,400-sq ft flat in an under-construction building, next to Singhania's JKTower, priced at Rs.1.30 lakh per sq ft.
