Abdullah Nurullah

Muthukumar was born in Kancheepuram. His father was a Tamil teacher.

Known in the film industry as 'Kavi Ilavarasan', Muthukumar won the national award for his lyrics for the songs "Aanandha Yazhai Meetugiraai" in in the film "Thanga Meenkal" and "Azhage Azhage Ethuvum Azhage" in "Saivam."

Besides publishing collections of his poems, Muthukumar had penned a novel "Silk City" and written dialogues for films including "Kireedam." Muthukumar had written more than 1,500 lyrics for Tamil films. Some of the films for which he had written lyrics include "Kaadhal Kondein," "Ghilli," "Chandramukhi," "Vaaranam Aayiram" and "Theri." He passed away in August 2016, succumbing to causes led by Juandice.
