Nitin Gadkari, union minister for roadways has blamed the cartel for affecting highway construction. The prices of cement increased in March 2019 on an M-o-M basis in Mumbai by `15 per 50 kg bag, Kolkata `25, Bengaluru `50, Chennai `60 and Hyderabad `75. There were some price increases in April-May 2019 as well. The prices are higher by `35-40/bag in Mumbai, `55-60 in Delhi. Here's a look at cement production in the last one year. | ||

The upward surge in cement prices
Cement manufacturers have appealed against an NCLAT order last October, which said there was a cartel at play. Nitin Gadkari, union minister for roadways has blamed the cartel for affecting highway construction. The prices of cement increased in March 2019 on an M-o-M basis in Mumbai by `15 per 50 kg bag, Kolkata `25, Bengaluru `50, Chennai `60 and Hyderabad `75.
