Champion of FDI

He shaped the 'Make in India' campaign, endearing himself to Modi. Has been the head of the Delhi- Mumbai Industrial Corridor and is a champion of 'Smart Cities'.

He has clearly been running the industries ministry by coordinating directly with A.K. Sharma in the PMO and follows a direct line of command from the PMO.

He is handling the key Japan investment cell and is likely to take over major initiatives on FDI, including pushing more FDI for defence. He had a one-on-one conversation with the Prime Minister throughout the return flight from Japan.
