He was handpicked by PM Narendra Modi to head the Quality Council of India in September 2014, an autonomous body mandated with improving the climate, systems, processes and skills in areas such as education, healthcare and social sectors.

He was named chairman of the board of media company Network 18 after it was taken over by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries in July 2014.

As a former chairman of McKinsey India and its senior adviser now, he has a strong network of contacts, and has helped leading MNCs build large, profitable businesses in India.
