5 Actresses who hide their age

The Times of India

[Indpaedia’s comment: What is the big deal if a girl—or man—does not want to reveal something as personal as her/ his age? People are not public property. In any case Rekha claimed to be 13 when she joined the films in 1969. Dimple claimed to be 14, in which case her marriage to Rajesh Khanna was null and void under the law.]

Bipasha Basu: Bipasha Basu grabs the third position in this list. The curious case of Bipasha's mysterious age is another one to look out for. A few years back the actress claimed that she was 28. It was at this point that one of her juniors from school came out in the open and said that Bipasha was three years older to her and in no way she could be 28 then. As per IMDB, the actress is 35 now.

Gauahar Khan: Whether it was her traumatic stay in the Bigg Boss house that made her forget her real age or her hide-and-seek love story with Kushal, we don't know. But there is just one thing we know for sure, Gauahar Khan celebrated her 29th birthday in 2011 too. When Bigg Boss 7 winner, Gauahar openly answered Salman Khan and mentioned that her age was 29 during one of the 'Jannat Ka Wow' episodes, the feisty diva clearly forgot that she had already celebrated her 29th birthday two years ago. Gauahar celebrated her 29th birthday with sister Nigaar Khan on their reality show 'The Khan Sisters'. Well, looks like age is just a number for Gauahar.

Katrina Kaif: Katrina's true age is a mystery all Bollywood divas are trying to solve. In an exclusive interview with TOI Katrina had revealed that she was only 8 years old when the Berlin Wall fell. So if we calculate, Katrina was born in 1981. If we go by this detail, Katrina should be 33 today. But what caught us off guard was when Katrina said, "Just because I've acted with Akshay and Salman doesn't make me older. I'm younger than Ranbir." If we go by the data again, Ranbir is born in 1982 so Katrina indeed is older than Ranbir. Wonder why Deepika wanted to see Katrina's passport.

Mallika Sherawat: Aaprt from her bold statements there is one more thing that keeps the actress in the news, her fluctuating age. While Mallika claims to be 'very young' her IMDB account says she is born in 1976. That makes the actress 38 years old now. We wonder if 38 is the new 16 for this leggy lass.

Sherlyn Chopra: Sherlyn Chopra has made it very clear that she does not like hiding behind her clothes, but there is just one thing she likes to hide, i.e, her age. Sources claim the actress has celebrated her 22nd birthday many a times. While actresses like - Aishwarya and Shilpa proudly talk about their age, Sherlyn definitely does seem too inspired by them. According to IMDB, the actress is 30 years old

Actors, actresses embarrassed by their family

Bollywood celebs embarrassed by family?

The Times of India

Bollywood celebs are constantly under the limelight and they are bound to make mistakes which get highlighted in the media, often causing embarrassment to their families. But there have also been instances when B-town celebs have been embarrassed by their own families! Read on to find out which Bollywood stars were put on the spot courtesy their near and dear ones who have done some embarrassing things in the public eye!

Ameesha Patel- Ashmit-Ameesha Patel and her sibling Ashmit Patel are close, in spite of Ameesha's problems with her parents where she waged a legal battle against them. The Bollywood actress who made her debut with Kahno Naa Pyaar Hai, is Ashmit's older sister. But seems like her younger brother gave her reason enough to go red in the face. Ashmit was said to be in a relationship with Riya Sen. Things got ugly when an alleged MMS clip about the two getting intimate made its way online and in the media. Both denied the rumours and Ashmit even said on Bigg Boss that though the MMS was on his phone, he never leaked it. Wonder how the clip leaked online?

Amitabh Bachchan- MP from Samajwadi Party, Jaya Bachchan created quite a stir at the music launch of the film Drona. Mrs Bachchan had said that they are from UP (Uttar Pradesh) and thus they will speak in Hindi and that the people of Maharashtra should forgive them. This was a direct taunt to MNS chief Raj Thackeray for his alleged anti North Indian sentiments. This created a stir and must have been an embarrassment to Big B as Raj Thackeray demanded an apology, after which Big B issued a statement clarifying his wife's remarks and even issued an apology.

Ayesha Takia - In the recent wake of the anger Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi has aroused in the nation, his daughter in law, former Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia, seems embarrassed. According to a report in Mid-Day, he was quoted saying, "Rape is punishable by hanging in Islam. But here, nothing happens to women, only to men. Even the woman is guilty. In India, if you have sex with a person with consent, it's fine. But if that same person complains, it's a problem. Nowadays, we see a lot of such cases. Girls complain when someone touches them, and even when someone doesn't touch them. It becomes a problem then, and the man's honour is ruined in this. If rape happens with or without consent, it should be punished as prescribed in Islam." Ayesha Takia took to Twitter to express her shock. She tweeted, " If what I'm reading about my father-in-law's statements is true then me and Farhan are deeply embarrassed and ashamed... We surely do not share this mindset... It's disrespectful to women. If these statements are true then it's sad."

Farah Khan -Farah Khan's director husband Shirish Kunder caused quite an embarrassment to her during Sanjay Dutt's Agneepath success bash in January 2012. The film editor turned director made a comment on the failure of SRK's ambitious, big budget project RA.One. Shirish took to Twitter to write, "I just heard a Rs 150 Cr firework fizzle." This seemed to irk the badshah of Bollywood who got into a tiff with Shirish at the party and allegedly slapped him. Farah came in support of her husband and supported him by sending a message to the media. It stated, "Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way 2 sort out a problem, n that its means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on, n it saddens me 2 see him doing the same (sic)." But nothing is permanent in Bollywood. Shirish quickly mended his ways by posting on Twitter, "I'll always regret one thing that I feel very guilty about. I sincerely apologise for my tweet on RA.One." Even Farah quickly realised the grave consequences of this and made peace with her good friend SRK when Sajid Nadiadwala intervened. Though Shahrukh is doing Farah's Happy New Year, the ace choreographer and director must be deeply embarrassed by her husband's actions in hindsight!

Kajol- Tanishaa- Tanishaa Mukerji's career may have failed in Bollywood, but she made a sure shot come back on TV with Colors' controversial reality show Bigg Boss 7. It is said that her mum Tanuja and sister Kajol and brother in law Ajay Devgn were against Tanishaa's decision to go into the Bigg Boss house. Her decisions seems to have caused quite an embarrassment to her family. But that's not all. On many occassions, host Salman Khan badgered her for not standing up against Armaan Kohli, a fellow inmate who would shout at Tanishaa. Doing this on national television further embarrassed her family. But it doesn't stop there. Tanishaa's open romance with Armaan Kohli did not go down too well with Tanuja and it is said that brother in law Ajay Devgn even told Viacom 18 to evict Tanishaa from Bigg Boss. According to a report in IANS, Kajol was quoted saying, “I do watch Bigg Boss regularly and I feel the show’s format is such that it brings out the worst in the person. I try and catch every single episode of the show and will support Tanishaa because she is my sister. I don’t think I have any advice for her because that place is such. The show puts you in an unnatural situation and compels to get the worst reaction out of you.”

Actresses who are not college graduates

In the first half-century of Filmistan, and even after, its stars were rarely recruited from the ranks of rocket scientists.

The Outlook editor Vinod Mehta wrote in his memoirs, ‘In ’40s-50s Bombay, a lower middle class Muslim’s meal ticket was his daughter. Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Nimmi, Suraiya, their dads hawked them.’ Outlook Even though the sweeping generalisation about ‘a lower middle class Muslim’ is not acceptable because less than 0.0001% of India’s lower middle class Muslims would let their daughters act in films, Mr Mehta’s point is taken to the extent that the girls that did get into Filmistan were from lower middle class families. None of them was a graduate.

Leave alone actresses, even a top director like Raj Kapoor who attended fancy schools like Colonel Brown’s Cambridge School, Dehradun and St Xavier's Collegiate School, Bombay, and whose father was very well-to-do, never completed his graduation. Did his son Rishi Kapoor?

Therefore, it is not fair to expect actresses to be graduates, though in this day and age even girls from very humble backgrounds are graduates and post-graduates; some hold professional degrees.

At the Miss India contest in 2000 Priyanka Chopra believed that Mother Theresa was a living person, three years after the much-loved saint had left the mortal world. Chopra won the crown nevertheless, because the kind of people who judge these contests are not much better informed either. What they buy newspapers for is Page 3 and, maybe, the stock market page. They, too, might have missed reports about the saint's death (on 5 September 1997) because of the juicier stories about Princess Diana's road accident five days before (on 31 August 1997).

In any case, poor Priyanka Chopra was only trying to become Miss India, not an IAS officer.

A college education is not relevant as long as these young ladies give us our money’s worth on the screen.

Still, for whatever it is worth, here is the lowdown on

Adulterous Mumbai filmstars, and wives who have accepted their philandering

Top 10 B'wood wives who've accepted cheating husbands

By TNN, The Times of India , 18 Mar 2013

The Times of India

A single, successful actress marrying a married man is common in Bollywood. So it comes as no surprise as to why the wives of such superstars still choose to be with them. The reasons are in multitude but whatever they maybe, it seems unacceptable! What are these women thinking?

Aditya Pancholi Zarina Wahab is unbelievable. When her husband Aditya Pancholi was having an open affair with Kangana Ranaut, she chose to stay quiet! Zarina readily accepted the situation and forgave her philandering husband. Whatever her reasons were for doing so, Aditya certainly took advantage of it! Although he and Kangana broke up long back, Zarina seems to have forgotten it all and still plays the submissive wife to Pancholi.

Kangana Ranaut

Ajay Devgn apparently cheated on former flame Karisma Kapoor with Kajol. But it seems karma caught up with the bindass babe of Bollywood. From the many rumours, it was Ajay’s affair with Kangana Ranaut during the shooting of Once Upon A Time that created a buzz. Not only that, it was going strong until Kangana got serious. Kajol surely must have got a whiff of it and in spite of being so independent, head strong and not one to take any rubbish; she’s still happily married to Devgn and is busy playing mommy to Yug and Nysa.

Akshay Kumar Is Twinkle Khanna lucky or unlucky? That’s the real question! Married to the Khiladi and playboy of Bollywood, her future is far from secure. Akshay is as known for his affairs with co stars as he is for performing his own stunts. Akshay has been linked to a host of beauties in recent times including his rock solid affair with Priyanka Chopra. Twinkle even banned her husband from working with her Pee Cee again, but once a cheater, always a cheater!

Amitabh Yash Chopra’s Silsila captured the real life love triangle between Jaya, Amitabh and Rekha on the reel screen. This film was the true story of Big B and Jaya. People still talk about Amitabh and Rekha’s love affair but it seems Jaya had no choice but to accept her cheating husband. Today, they are the powerful couple of Bollywood and appear as the quintessential family. Is it for real or just appearances to keep tongues from wagging?

Dharmendra Being the wife of Dharmendra is a matter of pride for any woman. Even Prakash Deol must have thought the same until the entry of Hema Malini. Dharmendra and Hema Mailini met on sets and soon began a historic love story. Dharmendra was a married man with children. But that did not deter him from converting his faith to Islam in order to marry Hema. The two even have two daughters together and though Dharam paji fully supports Hema and her family, he continues to stay with wife Prakash. What choice does someone like her have? Maybe that’s why sons Bobby and Sunny Deol chose to give Esha Deol’s wedding a miss.

Govinda Everyone knows about Govinda’s affair with Rani Mukherjee. It was the talking point of the film industry at one point. But do star wives have a choice? Same goes for Sunita Ahuja. Being Govinda’s wife comes with its perks, but so do the downfalls. Sunita has had no choice and family always comes first for her.

Hrithik’s affair with a host of actress including Kareena, Priyanka Chopra and Barbara Mori must have not gone well with Suzzane Roshan. Yet they seem to be the ‘it’ couple of Bollywood. Husband and wife are always seen at parties and events together. Wonder what’s cooking Hrithik?

Raj Babbar and Smita Patil’s love blossomed before Nadira Zaheer Babbar and it was believed that Nadira had left her husband Raj Babbar because of this. However, when Smita Patil gave birth to her and Raj’s son and later passed away due to complications, Nadira seemed to walk right back into Raj’s life. What are these women thinking?

Sanjay Kapur: Karisma Kapoor’s love for Sanjay Kapur was believed to be a re bound after a public break up with former flame Abhishek Bachchan. Before anyone could digest it, Karisma was married to Sanjay. But this perfect marriage soon shattered. Sanjay was earlier married to Nandita Mahtani and it seems he had issues committing to one woman. Soon enough his affairs with women including Delhi socialite Priya Chatwal were more than just rumours. Although Karisma and Sanjay may live apart in different cities, she is not yet divorced from him. What reality check does the gorgeous diva still need?

Shah Rukh Khan Her husband’s the badshah of Bollywood so it’s only natural for women to throng him. But Shah Rukh Khan’s love for wife Gauri has remained unchallenged minus a few rumours here and there. Although his alleged affair with Kajol during Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was brushed off, his growing chemistry with Priyanka Chopra had everyone panicking! The power couple of Bollywood was rumoured to split but in time intervention by friends is said to have the two’s marriage. It seems, all’s well that ends well and Gauri and SRK seem to be rock solid. Never mind the seemingly real stories about SRK’s and Pee Cee’s obvious affair.

The Times of India

The casting couch

Sex, lies and the directors of Bollywood

The Times of India

It's not an easy job to make it big in Bollywood. If there are Godfathers like Dev Anand, Salman Khan and Anurag Kashyap, who have been a stepping stone for many in Bollywood, then there is also an ugly truth of the casting couch or giving sexual favours to get a dream role which still exists in Bollywood. Though the casting couch or giving sexual favours to get dream roles has been a debatable topic in the Hindi film industry, incidents about many filmmakers making indecent proposals to starlets have time and again brought Bollywood's worst kept secret to light.

Dibakar Banerjee: Controversial actress Payal Rohatgi shocked everyone when she accused the director of hit films like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Love Sex aur Dhoka and Shanghai, Dibakar Banerjee, of asking for sexual favours in exchange for a role. Payal claimed that she shared a good camaraderie with Dibakar but when she refused to comply to his unpleasant demand, Dibakar removed her from his film Shanghai. Payal also claimed that Dibakar asked her to lift her blouse and show him her stomach but she did not give in to his demands and asked him to leave. Dibakar, however, denied all the allegations against him saying that he doesn't need to have a physical relationship with someone to cast them in his films. And when the accusation became too much to handle, Dibakar's good friends and directors like Anurag Kashyap and Sudhir Mishra came ahead to support him.

Madhur Bhandarkar: Well, Subhash is not the first director who has been accused of allegedly sexually molesting someone. There are other examples as well. Madhurkar Bhandarkar, who is known for making realistic films like Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Fashion was also the target of casting couch accusations. In 2004, Madhur was accused of rape by an aspiring actress Preeti Jain. The aspiring actress had alleged Madhur Bhandarkar of repeatedly having physical relationships with her from 1999 to 2004 under the pretext of giving her false promises that he would launch her in one of his films. Madhur heaved a sigh a relief when in 2006 the rape case was dismissed but it soon reopened again in 2009.Madhur has always strongly denied Preeti’s allegations. However, in 2012 the national award winning filmmaker received respite in the Preeti Jain rape case when the Supreme Court of India dismissed charges of rape against director Madhur Bhandarkar.

Onir Dhar: Director of sensitive films like My Brother Nikhil and Bus Ek Pal who has always been open about his sexual preference was accused by struggling actor Yuvraaj Parashaar of ‘Dunno Y…Naa Jaane Kyun’ of sexually assaulting him. Apparently, Parashar claimed that Onir invited him to his apartment in Mumbai to see his work and while watching his film, Onir got him drunk and forced him to move to the bedroom. Yuvraaj also claimed that the director forcibly abused him and showed a bite mark on his chest as evidence. However, Onir refuted all the charges and had planned to file a defamation case against Yuvraj. Onir's close friends like Purab Kohli and Sanjay Suri came all out in support of Onir. While, casting couch rumors have always haunted the Indian film industry, Parashar's case was one its kind where a male actor had accused a film director of sexual molestation.

Rajkumar Santoshi: Sexual harassment and the casting couch are not new to the Indian film industry. It is a known fact while some openly speak about it, others like to be tight-lipped about the same. Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, who was one of the young sensations in the 90s had also allegedly accused Rajkumar Santoshi of asking for sexual favours from her during the shooting of the film. The actress had worked with all the top actors of her time like Salman, Aamir and Akshay. But her accusation against Raj Kumar Santoshi took everyone by surprise. She accused Rajkumar Santoshi of trying to get fresh with her during the making of China Gate in 1998. Though, Santoshi denied all the allegations but after the release of China Gate several tongues went wagging about her chopped role in the film. Mamta was drop dead gorgeous and was seen in super-hit films like Karan Arjun, Sabse Bada Khiladi and Ghatak but after this infamous incident she suddenly vanished from the industry.

Subhash Kapoor The entire film industry is currently debating about the video that was uploaded by One By Two actress Geeta Tyagi where she has been shown confronting and slapping Subhash Kapoor of Jolly LLB fame, for allegedly sexually molesting her at a party. While the actress issued a statement saying that it wasn't a case of casting couch but sexual molestation, there are others in the industry who are questioning the intent and genuineness of the video tape.

Amrita, who followed the Sikh religion since birth, converted to Islam just before her marriage to actor Saif Ali Khan. Saif, who was a Muslim, is the son of the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the ninth Nawab of Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore. After thirteen years of marriage, they divorced in 2004. However, what is interesting is that Saif’s current wife and famous actress Kareena Kapoor has not converted to Islam after her marriage.

AR Rahman (Allah-Rakha Rahman): Though the whole world knows about his music, not much is known about his personal life. India’s most famous music composer, singer-songwriter, music producer and musician was born a Hindu and named A. S. Dileep Kumar. However, he converted to Islam later. The musician was introduced to Qadiri Islam when his younger sister fell severely ill in 1984. He was enchanted by the ideals and values of the religion. His mother, who belonged to an Islamic family before her marriage, too was influenced by Sufism. Though AR Rahman was an atheist during his childhood, he embraced Islam with his full heart. Music maestro AR Rahman, who was born to a Hindu father and a Muslim mother, converted to Islam in 1989. He grew up as an atheist before converting his religion to Islam after reaching adulthood.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini More than two decades ago, film stars Dharmendra and Hema Malini married secretly. Women activists protested against the "illegal" marriage. Dharmendra, they pointed out, was already married and had teenaged children. But in order to give legitimacy to his union with Hema Malini, the couple had converted to Islam. Dharamendra (born as Dharam Singh Deol) is one of the most charismatic heroes that Indian cinema has ever had. The dashing actor, who played both romantic as well as the action hero with finesse, converted to Islam in 1979. The actor was already married to Prakash Kaur and had four kids with her when he met actress Hema Malini and fell in love with her. Since he could not divorce his wife due to his commitment and could not marry again as per the Hindu Marriage Act, he converted to Islam and married Hema. Since then he has maintained two separate families. It is said that since there were many protests during his second marriage, the actor had no option but to change his religion to give legitimacy to his union with Hema Malini.

(Around the same time as Dharmenrra's 'conversion,' Shama, the biggest selling and very respectable Urdu film magazine, reported that Raj Babbar-Smita Patil and Vinod Mehra and his then latest wife had also converted to Islam in order to give similar legitimacy to their second marriages.)

Hans Raj Hans: The Pakistani media is abuzz with reports that popular Indian singer Hans Raj Hans has converted to Islam. The singer, who is Sikh by birth, has belted out some popular chartbusters like Aaja Nachle, Dil Tote Tote and Duma Dum Mast Qalandar. He is reportedly proud to embrace Islam and has also expressed a desire to visit Medina. He was allegedly studying Islamic literature for the past few days and has developed faith in the values of Islam as a religion. His fascination for Islam is pretty evident from the fact that he decided to stick to only the Sufi genre of singing, which has its origin in Islam. However, his son Navraj has denied these reports.

Nagma Actress Nagma who was born to a Muslim mother and a Hindu father took up Christianity in the year 2007.

Nargis Actress Nargis took up Hinduism and changed her name to Nirmala Dutt when she married Sunil Dutt.

Gifts in Filmistan

Unbelievably expensive gifts by Bollywood celebs

The Times of India

Bollywood celebrities are known for their flamboyant lifestyle off the big screen as well. So keeping up with their magnanimous image, Bollywood celebrities are known for using much more than simple words to express their gratitude. Here are five unbelievably expensive gifts that Bollywood superstars have given their famous friends.

Aditya Chopra- Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra's relationship has been on the media's tenterhooks for ages now. While the media was busy playing the guessing game on their alleged affair and later marriage rumours, Aditya's one move grabbed eyeballs. Apparently, in true filmi style the celebrated filmmaker gifted a Rs 1.25 crore worth Audi A8 W12 to rumoured wife Rani Mukerji. Aditya has never professed his love for Rani publicly although rumour mills have always been abuzz about their romance. Aditya's very expensive gift to Rani was touted to be his gift to her before they finally say "I do".

Karan Johar- Filmmaker Karan Johar who is known for making larger-than-life films for the big screen is a man with a big heart. We know that because the celebrity director apparently gifted nothing less than an extravagant Ferrari to actress Katrina Kaif. The story that goes around this big gift by the filmmakers is that Karan Johar asked Katrina Kaif to do an item number in his film 'Agneepath'. The actress agreed and reportedly refused to charge anything for the same. So overwhelmed was Karan by this gesture that he apparently decided to return the favour and gift something to the beautiful actress. Karan is believed to have gifted Katrina a Ferrari for shaking a leg to 'Chikni Chameli'.

Salman Khan- Salman Khan has become synonymous with being generous in the flashy corridors of Bollywood. The actor who has a penchant for gifting and helping well-wishers and loved ones, did the same for former girlfriend Katrina Kaif. If reports are to be believed then Salman gifted Kat a black SUV on her birthday a while back. In 2012 when Salman and Katrina were still together, Sallu bhai had gifted his ladylove an expensive Audi. However, after the two parted ways, rumours of Katrina contacting an agent to sell the same car made its way. Even though Kat may have sold her expensive gift, we think Salman deserves a pat on the back for his choice of wheels.

Shahrukh Khan - The badshah of Bollywood is known to maintain a high-profile lifestyle off the silver screen as well. Over the years, King Khan has gifted expensive tokens of appreciation to his friends and well-wishers. Shahrukh recently came in the news for gifting Abhishek Bachchan a Harley Davidson motorbike. From what we can gauge from SRK and Abhishek's tweets, SRK gifted Junior B a Harley after the latter gifted SRK a bicycle! Shahrukh had before that made headlines when he gifted friend and director Farah Khan a Mercedes Benz E Class for their film 'Om Shanti Om' and a Hyundai SUV after the release of 'Main Hoon Na'. Even though his superhero film 'Ra.One' did not live up to the expectations, SRK spent Rs 1 crore each while gifting Arjun Rampal, Anubhav Sinha and Rajinikanth, a BMW each.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra- Now this is one 'gift' that has stayed for long in public memory. In a publicized event of sorts, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra gifted a Rolls Royce Phantom to megastar Amitabh Bachchan for his performance in the film 'Eklavya'. What followed however, was an altogether different story. Soon after Chopra's gift of a flashy pair of wheels to Big B, news of Big B returning the same to the showroom the next day appeared. If that wasn't all, this 'gimmick' was seen as a way of waiving off taxes by Amitabh Bachchan. According to reports Big B charged just rupee one for 'Eklavya' and hence, Chopra gave him this extremely expensive gift.

Liars

5 TV celebs who are compulsive liars

The Times of India

Ashmit Patel: Ameesha Patel's kid brother, Ashmit Patel may not be known for his movies and Bollywood career but the actor will surely be remembered throughout his lifetime for his MMS scandal. Ashmit Patel and his then girlfriend Riya Sen grabbed attention and surrounded themselves with controversies with one MMS scandal. Both the actors were caught on camera spending some personal moments together and getting intimate. And in no time the video became viral. Initially, both the actors stayed mum and denied the authenticity of the MMS. However, later apparently Ashmit admitted that the MMS belonged to him, but he did not do it for any publicity stunt. The controversy once again came into limelight when Ashmit participated in controversial reality show Bigg Boss. Apparently the clip became more popular this time than when it was released the first time. Ashmit also went ahead to say that he was not the one who circulated the MMS. hmm.. hmmm... Ashmit do you really want us to believe this?

Gauahar Khan: Gauahar Khan, basked in the success of her two TV reality show Bigg Boss 7 and Khatron Ke Khiladi. Gauahar made headlines for lying about her real age. During one of the Weekend Ka wow episode of Bigg Boss 7, when Salman had asked Gauahar about her age, she said that she is just one year older to Kushal, i.e. 29 years old. There are conflicting reports about her age on different websites. According to Wikipedia, she is 32 years old and even her Bigg Boss profile says she is 30 years old. If this wasn't enough the truth was once again exposed when a leading website Miss Malini reported that Gauahar Khan had celebrated her 29th birthday back in 2009 when she was doing 'Khan Sisters'. Well, looks like Gauahar has never heard of the phrase Age is just a number. (Indpaedia’s take: Lying about your age is not a sin, if it is in response to your age being asked by someone who has no business to. What is a sin is others, including journalists, wanting to know your age, which is an invasion of your privacy. Who has a right to know your correct age? Your educational institution; your formal employer in jobs that come with minimum and maximum age limits—and this does not include the makers of films; your prospective spouse; and those given the task of ensuring that only people of a certain age get privileges meant for that age group.)

Poonam Pandey: We all are very well aware about the fact that strip queen Poonam Pandey knows how to seek everyone's attention. But what many don't know is that she is a lying queen as well. Poonam, who was last seen in Nasha is an expert when it comes to lying. In 2011, the model turned actress promised that if India wins the World Cup she will bare all inside the stadium. The news about Poonam Pandey's striptease act for the Indian Cricket players spread like wild fire and within next two days, she became one of the most searched persons on the internet. But Poonam never fulfilled her promise. This is not the only time when the sexy siren proclaimed to strip. Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) final, Poonam reportedly promised that she would pose nude for Shah Rukh Khan if his team Kolkata Knight Riders won the tournament. When the team did win, Pandey delivered on the promise but with a twist. (She released an airbrushed nude photo)

Rakhi Sawant: Queen of controversies is what perfectly describes Rakhi Sawant. She surely knows all the tricks to shock the audiences with her decisions whether it is standing up for elections or getting married on National Television. Rakhi Sawant, surprised everyone with the first of its kind reality show which generated drama over her choices and got the nation excited, in the process garnering huge TRPs. She announced her decision of selecting a groom and tying the nuptial knot with the chosen one – on the reality TV show. However, the drama queen on the D- Day seemed to develop cold feet as she settled down and had an engagement with a Canadian businessman Elesh Parujanwalla, but later called it quits.

Sara Khan-Ali Merchantt: Well, who can forget this couple? When it comes to keeping things under wraps and blatently liying about it Sara Khan and Ali Merchantt certainly take the cake. Before taking the nuptial vows on National Television in reality show Bigg Boss, the two were allegedly married on November 10 2009 in a close family affair. And Sara’s father’s interview on a news channel said that Sara and Ali were already married and the reason they were hiding it from the press was to protect their careers. This added fuel to the fire. However, both Sara and Ali Merchantt denied the news of being married before Bigg Boss.

Marriages that were not supposed to happen but did

Celebrity couples who we thought will never get married

The Times of India

They say marriages are made in heaven and the same holds especially true for our Bollywood and TV celebrities. While a few celeb love stories seem like just another chapter from a fairy tale, there are those that rather surprised us with their 'till death do us apart' vows. Here are some celebrity couples who we thought will never get married! Read on to know which ones!

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan: While she is the most beautiful woman in the world, Aishwarya Rai's track record when it comes to boyfriends has been a bumpy ride. After dating Salman Khan, news of him allegedly physically assaulting and stalking her did the rounds. The very possessive Salman Khan apparently irked Ash's new boyfriend Vivek Oberoi so much that he had to call a press conference to address the issue. After moving on from these affairs, Ash was linked to actor Abhishek Bachchan and stories of will they, won't they tie the knot constantly did the rounds. While Ash's love life was always scrutinised, Abhishek too did not make a smooth ride to the aisle. He was earlier engaged to be married to actress Karisma Kapoor but that was later called off. However, Ash and Abhishek shut all the gossip mongers once and for all and announced their wedding soon after. The couple got married in 2007 and now have a daughter Aaradhya together.

Dimpy Ganguly and Rahul Mahajan: Rahul Mahajan's inclusion in this list might hardly raise any eyebrows. Former 'Bigg Boss' contestant, Rahul Mahajan's marriage to model Dimpy Ganguly on reality show 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega' created waves when the two actually exchanged vows. His marriage came as a surprise to many as Rahul was earlier dating actress Payal Rohatgi on reality show 'Bigg Boss'. The two would often get 'cosy' for the many cameras in the house and hence his decision to participate in the swayamvar itself was a surprise. Soon after their marriage, news reports of Dimpy allegedly accusing Rahul of punching, kicking and dragging her by the hair came out in the open. The two later reconciled but Dimpy's marriage to Rahul Mahajan came as a shock to is for sure.

Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi: A brief romance between the former Miss Universe Lara Dutta and tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi took a serious turn soon after and the couple was hitched even before we knew it! Yes, Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi make it to our list of celebrities we thought would never get married. Lara was in a decade long live-in relationship with boyfriend and actor Kelly Dorjee and their split came as a shock to everyone. While we thought it may be just another lover's tiff and the couple may soon mend their broken hearts, news of Lara apparently dating actor Dino Morea came to the forefront. However, their affair lasted a short while only and soon Lara was linked to Mahesh Bhupathi. Given her recent short flings, we assumed this one wouldn't be too serious too, but the couple shocked us when they exchanged vows with a white wedding in Goa. The couple now has a daughter, Saira together.

Payal Rohatgi and Sangram Singh: When news of model and Bollywood actress Payal Rohatgi getting engaged to wrestler Sangram Singh hit news stands, it definitely came as a shocking surprise. Not because of anything else, but that Payal Rohatgi who started dating Sangram after the two participated together in a realtiy show 'Survivor India' has been in rather public relationships before that never really reached the alter. Payal participated in reality show 'Bigg Boss' and was linked to inmate Rahul Mahajan then. The two apparently continued dating for some time after the show got over but split after Payal complained of physical abuse. Later, in 2010 rumours of Payal seeing South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs were doing the rounds too. While we were about to dismiss Payal and Sangram's affair as yet another 'publicity stunt' the couple announced their engagement. The two who had started dating on 'Survivor India' eventually moved in together. Sangram recently participated in 'Bigg Boss' and his lady love even visited him during his stay in the house. The two got engaged on 27th February, 2014 and will soon tie the knot.

Veena Malik and Assad Bashir: Controversy is Veena Malik's middle name. The Pakistani actress who joined Bollywood and is still looking for a strong hold in the industry shocked many after her sudden marriage to singer-actor-businessman Assad Bashir Khattak. Veena shocked one and all including an ex-employee Prashant Singh who alleged that the actress betrayed him with her sudden decision to marry Assad in Dubai. According to a news report in Emirates 24/7, Prashant alleged that he was in a live-in relationship with Veena and that she was even pregnant with his child but the couple decided to terminate the pregnancy. The starlet has been in the news constantly since the beginning of her career in Bollywood for her relationship with actor Ashmit Patel. She was earlier dating Pakistani cricketer Mohd. Asif and after their breakup bad mouthed him and said "He was better at foot massage than cricket"! I am sure it will come as no surprise to everyone when we included her in our list.

The Times of India

Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor: Kapoor khandaan's young and sensational superstar Ranbir Kapoor is famous for his casanova image in Bollywood. His past girlfriends Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor revealed it all few years back on Koffee With Karan. Well, this also goes on to prove that the actor has learnt from his past mistakes and Ranbir is just following the old phrase- once bitten twice shy. The actor has been doing all that it takes to keep his relationship with Chikni Chameli Katrina Kaif a secret. However, even after guarding their relationship for so long, Katrina and Ranbir's holiday pictures at Ibiza made everything pubic. And if this wasn't enough then Kareena's comment on dancing to Chikni Chameli and Sheela Ki Jawani at the couple's wedding added more fuel to the fire. Sincethen, both Kat and Ranbir have been avoiding questions related to their relationship.

Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor: Well, if there are celebs like Rani, Vidya, Riteish and Genelia who keep their relationship under wraps for years and eventually get married, there are also few like Ranbir-Kat and Shahid-PC who simply deny dating each other. Although both Priyanka and Shahid had always denied ever being a couple, many reports in the media hinted at how they were an item. In fact, according to some news reports in the media it was reportedly Shahid's decision to keep their relationship a hush-hush affair and Priyanka just followed it. Apparently, Shahid didn't want to repeat the mistake that he did with his much-publicised relationship with Kareena Kapoor. Apart from being neighbours, the alleged couple also did a couple of advertisements together. However, it was during the IT official's raid at PC's house that brought this love affair to the limelight as apparently according to some reports, Shahid opened the door of Priyanka's house when the officials rung the bell. Later, Priyanka tried to cover up the matter but as they say, there is no smoke without fire. Everyone got to know about their affair. However, the couple who has topped the list is Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza .Well, what can we say about this couple. They seem to be the pioneer of keeping relationshipd secret and constantly denying it to the media. Riteish and Genelia kept their love affair a secret for almost 10 long years. They always requested or forced reporters to leave or sometimes even ducked questions pertaining to their relationship. However, after playing hide and seek for almost 10 years they finally announced their wedding date and eventually got married

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur: Like her Bollywood contemporary Rani Mukerji, even actress Vidya Balan ignored and avoided questions related to her relationship with UTV head honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur. Though Vidya and Siddharth never confirmed about their relationship, the duo was spotted together on various occasions and her holiday pictures with Siddharth in Goa said it all. In fact there were many reports in the media that the actress stayed mum about her relationship with Siddharth as he was in the middle of a divorce proceeding with first wife. But amidst all this, the actress tied the in 2012.

Romances in Filmistan

Bollywood affairs that create a stir even today!

The Times of India

Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon- Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon sizzled on the screen together in the film 'Mohra'. While their off-screen chemistry worked wonders for their onscreen pairing in the film, their romance did not however see the light of the day. Rumour mills were abuzz that Raveena and Akshay had secretly exchanged rings however this couple never walked down the aisle. In an interview to Stardust magazine, Raveena Tandon said that it was Akshay's flamboyant behaviour that resulted in them parting ways. She said that he expected her to take him back and forgive him. News reports also mention that Raveena even went to the extent of saying that while he was engaged to her, he got engaged to two other girls as well. In an interview to a magazine Raveena said that Akshay proposes to every girl and the speed at which he is going, he will have to address the parents of three-fourth girls as "Mom and Dad". Raveena went ahead and got married to Anil Thadani and Akshay Kumar married actress Twinkle Khanna. Despite their well settled life today, their steamy love affair and Raveena's candid confessions find a mention in our list.

Dilip: Madhubala and Dilip Kumar- The timeless beauty Madhubala who is often compared to Marilyn Monroe with respect to her beauty and photogenic face, also makes a mention here. Even though Madhubala married singer-actor Kishore Kumar, it was her love affair with Dilip Kumar that raises eyebrows till date. Madhubala who met Dilip Kumar on the sets of 'Tarana' fell in love with him. It is believed that she sent a note with a rose to him asking him to accept the same only if he loved her. Dilip Kumar apparently kept the note with him and that began their love story. The two dated for almost seven years before a court case separated them. Madhubala's father refused to let her go for an outdoor shoot for 'Naya Daur' which had Dilip Kumar as well. Madhubala was kicked out of the film and the director cast Vyjayanti Mala instead. Angry at this, Madhubala's father threatened to sue the filmmaker. On the other hand BR Chopra (the filmmaker of 'Naya Daur') sued Madhubala's father instead and in the court of law, her lover Dilip Kumar gave a testimony against her father. This saddened her and the two parted ways. However, years later, in an interview to Filmfare, Madhubala's sister Madhur Bhushan revealed how her sister cried over Dilip Kumar and how she became extremely sad when Dilip Kumar got married to actress Saira Bano. This is one affair, that manages to hold everyone's attention till date.

Nanda and Manmohan Desai- Actress Nanda was also popularly known as Baby Nanda. Unlike many of her contemporaries, Nanda remained single till the very end. This however, does not mean that the beautiful actress never fell in love. The 'Joroo Ka Ghulam' actress fell in love with filmmaker Manmohan Desai. While in her youth, Nanda rejected many marriage proposals, she finally got engaged to Manmohan Desai in 1992 apparently on the insistence of her good friend and actress Waheeda Rehman. But even before the two could walk down the aisle, Manmohan Desai committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of his home in Mumbai. It is believed that Desai couldn't take failure and so when towards the end of his career his formulas failed to find an audience, he decided to end his life. 'Ganga Jamuna Saraswati' and his son Ketan Desai's directorial ventures 'Allah Rakha' and 'Toofan' were disastrous failures at the box office. Although very little is known about his death and its reasons, Manmohan Desai's affair with Nanda creates a stir even today because of his untimely death.

Nargis and Raj Kapoor- Now this affair had the nation on its tenterhooks! Nargis and Raj Kapoor were passionately in love. While Raj Kapoor was already married to Krishna, this did not stop them from falling in love with each other. Their films 'Shree 420' and 'Barsaat' and 'Awaara' are epitome of their off-screen love affair. Years later, Raj Kapoor discovered and launched Dimple Kapadia in 'Bobby' opposite his son Rishi Kapoor. While rumours of a romance between Rishi and Dimple surfaced, news of Raj Kapoor not being happy about the same came to the fore as well. Various theories were afloat at that time and rumours of Dimple Kapadia as the alleged love child of Nargis and Raj Kapoor was one of them. Although, Dimple went ahead and married superstar Rajesh Khanna and Rishi tied the knot with his sweetheart Neetu Singh, rumours of Dimple being Rishi's half-sister emerged now and then. Although, both Nargis and Raj Kapoor passed away long time ago, this rumour and their affair keeps them in the news constantly.

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan- If we are talking of old affairs that stir up emotions and reactions even today, we cannot get away without naming Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. Rekha and Amitabh's steamy love affair has become a part of Bollywood's folklore. Although Amitabh Bachchan was already married to Jaya Bhaduri, this did not deter him from having an alleged extramarital affair with Rekha. Their romance and real life love triangle was captured beautifully in Yash Chopra's 'Silsila'. The rumours around these two refuse to die a natural death. Instead, at regular intervals news reports of Rekha and Amitabh keep cropping up. While a coy 'namaste' at an awards function can make headlines, a picture of an excited crew member on a plane with Big B made waves recently as Rekha was snapped hiding her face while sitting behind Amitabh Bachchan.

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai- Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's affair is another one that deserves a position on this list. She was one of the most beautiful woman in the world and he was India's heartthrob. Together they sizzled on the big screen in 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'. However, Salman's alleged possessive behaviour and apparently physically abusing Aishwarya led to their break-up. Even though, Ash has settled in matrimony with actor Abhishek Bachchan and has a daughter Aaradhaya together, public scrutiny of her relationship with Salman never seems to end. Even today, if the two are seen at the same function or social gathering together, their old love story is highlighted over and over again.

Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy- Shatrughan Sinha's affir with Reena Roy was the talk of the town during their time. When Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi Sinha made her big Bollywood debut with 'Dabangg', more than anything, her uncanny resemblance to his father's former ladylove Reena Roy became the topic of discussion. Even though Sonakshi cleared the air and called herself "Poonam Sinha's daughter", the gossip mills didn't stop comparing. In an interview to Zee, Reena Roy rubbished these rumours and said, "When I did ‘Zakhmee’, I was called Asha Parekh and Nasir Hussain's daughter. Film industry mein toh yeh silsila chalte rehta hai. Kuch din baad khatam ho jaata hai". Sonakshi's entry into films stirred news of Shatrughan and Reena back in their hey days. While Reena married Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan and later separated from him, Shatrughan was already married to Poonam Sinha when their affair started. Even till today, Sonakshi's beautiful face makes a mention in the gossip columns on a regular basis.

Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborthy- Sridevi and Mithun's alleged affair is another one that makes waves till today. Sridevi and Mithun had a steaming affair in their hey days. The two were rumoured to have secretly tied the knot. A news report in Daily Bhaskar mentions that Mithun's wife Yogeeta Bali tried to commit suicide when she got to know about this. It is believed that Sridevi then realised that Mithun is still married and does not plan to leave his wife, she allegedly decided to apparently annul the marriage and call it quits. After her affair with Mithun came to an end, Sridevi apparently found comfort in Boney Kapoor and his wife Mona Kapoor. In an interview to DNA, the late Mona Kapoor said that she was shocked when she realised her husband was in love with somebody else. She reportedly said that "There was nothing left in the relationship to give it a chance because Sridevi was already with a child. Their rishta was kayam" (sic). A Daily Bhaskar report also mentions that Mona reportedly had revealed that to prove her love for Mithun and to prove that it was just a platonic relationship with Boney Kapoor, Sridevi had also tied rakhi on Boney's wrist! Well even years later, Sridevi and her alleged affairs find a reason to make a mention.

Tina Munim and Rajesh Khanna- Tina Munim who is now married to industrialist Anil Ambani and happily married with two kids, was linked to various actors before that. However, out of all the rumours, Tina's alleged affair with Rajesh Khanna was the strongest. Apparently, Rajesh Khanna and Tina Munim who had worked together in films like 'Sautan' and 'Fifty Fifty' together allegedly fell head over heels in love with each other. Their relationship soon became the talk of the town and it is believed that the two started living together as well. Apparently it was her ego clashes with Rajesh Khanna and his over protective nature that made a free-spirited Tina call it quits. Tina Munim later fell in love with Anil Ambani and the two settled for matrimony.

Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan- The original seductress of Bollywood, Zeenat Aman makes a mention on this list because of her alleged affair with Sanjay Khan. Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan got involved even though he was already married with three children. While extra marital affairs have been plenty in the film industry, this one caught our eye for a different reason. Rumours of Sanjay Khan's wife hitting Zeenat hard on her eye started sprouting up soon after Zarine got to know about their affair. It is believed that Zeenat and Sanjay had even gotten married secretly and that allegedly enraged Zarine. While Zeenat's relationship with Sanjay did not last long, she had to deal with a damaged eye for the rest of her life.

Tantrums

Celebrity tantrum throwers

The Times of India

Celebrity tantrums in tinseltown are not a new thing, here’s a look at few other actors and their reported tantrums: -

Aishwarya Rai During the shooting of Vipul Shah's Action Replay Aishwarya Rai refused to get her make up done with the international make up artistes who were hired for the film. The reason being she couldn’t be comfortable with any other make up man except Ojas Rajani, her personal favorite.

Anushka Sharma has gone a step ahead to bag the title 'tantrum queen'. When a cinematographer is setting up the light, he makes the actors to stand there so that the light falls properly on their face and make them look optimally beautiful. But Miss Sharma feels she is a diva. The birdy from the crew says, "On the sets of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, she sends one of her assistants of the same height to stand in for her to get the lighting right, as it’s a waste of time for her. She doesn't realise that it falls differently on every face.

Arjun Kapoor If insiders are to be believed, then Arjun Kapoor has put on airs ever since his debut film Ishaqzaade became a hit. The 27-year-old actor reportedly refused to share a car during the promotions of Aurangzeb. Even if he did so, he would make them wait for hours before he turned up for the journey ahead. Well, too much pride too soon!

Ayushmann Khurrana: seems to have taken his awards too seriously. He opted out of Kunal Kohli’s production saying he would only work with an A-list heroine. “This is a clear example of a newcomer overreaching himself. The little boy evidently thinks he is an A-lister, whatever that means,” Kohli says.

Bipasha Basu, who owes her success in Bollywood to Bhatts, is apparently throwing starry tantrums in their face. Buzz is after refusing the female lead in Murder 2, Bips has also lost the item number from the film. Reportedly, the actress was supposed to do an item number for Murder 2, but she wanted only a particular choreographer to do it. This unreasonable demand enraged Mukesh Bhatt as the choreographer was asking a high price.

Kangana Ranaut travels with her assistant everywhere. But while she travels first class, her assistant travels economy class. That’s not the problem. The problem arises when the airhostess would ask Kangana about what she would like to eat or drink and Kangana would simply ask her to direct all queries to her assistant sitting in the economy class. The stewardess would then have to go back and forth searching for Kangana's assistant just to satisfy Kangana’s food demands!

Kareena Kapoor Khan takes the cake when it comes to throwing tantrums. Bebo put several conditions in front of Madhur Bhandarkar before she agreed to do his film Heroine that she only wanted to work with A- listers. She flatly refused to do any love-making scenes. The funny part is even after the conditions were accepted, Kareena refused the movie anyway. Why? Because she didn’t like the script and asked Madhur to re-write it, again!

Katrina Kaif During a promotional event Katrina Kaif was apparently so exhausted that she fell into deep slumber without putting on her seat belt. And when the airhostess tapped her to wake her up she completely lost it. "How dare you touch me? Don't you know who I am?", is what she allegedly said to the airhostess. Poor flight attendant, she probably didn’t know that you’re not allowed to touch … what’s her name? Yes, Sheila ki jawani.

Mallika Sherawat One actor who’s constantly reported to throw tantrums is the Mallika Sherawat. She has even earned the reputation of a tantrum queen. The actress also reportedly insists that each shot be canned until she thinks it’s perfect. Her nakhras have also got her the headlines.

Parineeti Chopra, 25, is already in ‘industry bad books’ for turning up late for brand endorsement shoots (a campaign where she has replaced actor Juhi Chawla), and also for turning up late for media interactions.

Priyanka Chopra is apparently throwing tantrums on the sets of her upcoming movie - biopic on Mary Kom. She is interfering in the film-making process and director Omung Kumar is upset with her interference.

Ranveer Singh passed a snide remark at actor Ranbir Kapoor at a promotional event when he said, “Rockstars die out!” And that’s not all, on a recent flight to Kolkata, he was rude to an air-hostess when she said she didn’t have the non-veg fare that Singh wanted. He also lost out on an endorsement because he didn’t want to go clean shaven.

Riteish Deshmukh Once Riteish Deshmukh was furious on the sets of a reality show after he was made to shoot non-stop, without a single break. Around 11 pm at night, the actor walked out of the sets and told the producers that he thought that his shift was over, and that it was pack up time. Needless to say, the rigorous timings didn’t suit him.

Salman Khan On sets of Ek Tha Tiger Salman Khan’s newest order is that no spot boy is supposed to come and fetch him for the shoot - he’ll be out of his van once he’s ready. Of course, that means that the crew just has to sit around and wait until he’s decided it’s time to come out. But while he keeps everyone waiting, you can’t make him wait - so scheduling shots with other actors becomes problematic.

Shraddha Kapoor The success of 'Aashiqui 2' has catapulted Shraddha Kapoor to fame and now the actress expects to be treated like a star. During shooting of 'Haider' in Kashmir, she discovered that she was the only member of the cast who had not been put up in a suite. She too demanded a suite in the hotel. The team had to then shift her to another five-star hotel, where she was given a suite. But when she turned up for the preparatory workshop next day, the actress was still sulking over the 'unfair' treatment.

Sunny Leone The former adult star Sunny Leone displayed some of it recently during a shoot when she laid down the condition that she did not want TV channels covering the shoot. The photoshoot organisers were in a spot as normally there are tie-ups between them and channels.

Telephone manners and caller tunes

Bollywood superstars and their phone manners \

Meena Iyer & PARAG MANIAR,TNN | Feb 4, 2014

The Times of India

Superstars and their phone manners, or should we say, the lack of them, do make for an interesting read.

Aamir Khan will always respond to a message as does his wife Kiran Rao.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan You may never get a message from her, even if you call to wish her on her birthday. The Bachchan bahu is in august company.

Ajay Devgn never looks at his phone when he's at home and his wife Kajol couldn't be bothered with the world either.

Akshay Kumar is always prompt and polite with his replies; wish some others would learn from him. It would foster communication.

Amitabh Bachchan still has impeccable phone etiquette. You will always get a reply from the cinema legend, even if it is sometimes delayed by a day.

Bipasha Basu Bipasha Basu used to have a funny caller tune. It went, "Hello, hello... I can't hear you... could you speak a little louder...", making the caller feel as if she was actually on the other side.

Deepika Padukone is a charmer. If she cannot respond to your message, she will send a non-committal smiley for sure.

Karan Johar is prompt on most occasions, except if the question is too sticky.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has pleasant phone manners. The Begum cannot be separated from her smartphone for even a few hours. Her husband, the Nawab of Pataudi, is charm personified when you meet him but his phone manners suck. Saif prefers not to have any Bollywood people on his phone chat list. That prerogative is reserved for his friends from Oxford.

Katrina Kaif is quite like the Big B. She may not respond to an SMS immediately but be sure you will get a reply even if she is in the UK or Las Vegas.

Numbers There are at least four to five filmwallahs who insist on having 786 (that denotes Bismillah) in their phone numbers. These are AR Rahman, Firoz Nadiadwala, Saira Banu and Tabu. Rishi Kapoor and his wife Neetu are separated by just one digit in their cell numbers. And the entire Oberoi family—Suresh, Yashodhara and Vivek—has the digits 777 present in their cell numbers. Incidentally Shah Rukh Khan's fixation for the digits 555 extends itself to his phone numbers just like it does to his car registration numbers.

Priyanka Chopra's phone messenger status usually tells you everything about her. Her destination and her state of mind come across nicely on the messages she posts.

Ranveer Singh, should learn from current date, Deepika P. The actor, who would wait next to the phone to respond to messages before Ram-Leela, has now developed a very different attitude. These days, he responds to Deepika's messages, leaving the rest of the world hanging.

Shah Rukh Khan also has terrible phone manners. Of course, the nice thing about SRK is that just when you are in deep despair that he hasn't replied, you may get a surprise message from him in the middle of the night. Since he usually personalises his message — it brings a smile to your face, even if it comes a fortnight after it was meant to.

Urvashi Rautela Newbie Urvashi Rautela, who made her debut in Singh Saab The Great (2013), has a caller tune that warns the caller to be careful about what they speak. It goes, "The number you have called is a VIP number. This call may be monitored for surveillance. Please choose your words carefully before speaking". Probably, it's her way of warding off unwanted calls.

Stars behind celebrity break-ups

The Times of India

Hrithik Roshan and childhood sweetheart Sussanne's split came as a shock to not just their loved ones but Hrithik's fans as well. While Hrithik gave a clear, uncontroversial statement to the media, rumour mills have not spared actor Arjun Rampal's name from the proceedings. While everyone is aware of Sussanne being close to both Arjun and his wife Mehr Jessia, this hasn't stopped gossip mongers from talking about Arjun being the alleged reason behind the separation. Sadly, this isn't the first time an actor's name has come up as the reason for another couple's break-up. Here are other stars who were allegedly involved and touted as the reason for causing a wedge between otherwise compatible relationships.

Kiran Rao: Aamir Khan left his wife Reena Dutta after their 15 years of marriage after he fell in love with Kiran Rao on the sets of 'Lagaan'. Incidentally, Reena was also the co-producer of the film. Kiran and Aamir are now married and have a son together, Azad Rao Khan.

Nargis Dutt: Everyone knew there was more to Nargis and Raj Kapoor's sizzling chemistry onscreen then what met the eyes. The two worked together in sixteen films and if rumours are to be believed they had a sparkling love story even behind the lenses. However, Raj Kapoor was already married to Krishna and so Nargis was always the other woman in the relationship. After refusing to leave his wife, Nargis finally settled down with Sunil Dutt.

Priyanka Chopra: Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri are Bollywood's golden couple. With a perfect marriage, Shah Rukh's name wasn't linked to any actress albeit until recently. Priyanka Chopra's name was linked to the superstar and what followed was a royal snub to PeeCee from Gauri and her loyal friends. However, SRK made strong attempts to quiten his detractors but gossip mongers quietened down when Shah Rukh and Gauri welcomed their son AbRam.

Rani Mukerji: Aditya Chopra may be making larger than life romantic films for the big screen but his personal life had gone through enough turmoil. According to news reports he divorced his wife Payal Khanna after only five years of their marriage because of his alleged involvement with Rani Mukerji. Even though, Rani and Aditya have never come out openly with their relationship, at an event sometime back, Shatrughan Sinha addressed Rani as Mrs Chopra.

Rekha: Touted as the other woman in Amitabh Bachchan's life, Rekha's name came up at a time when Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan were happily married. Strong rumours of a romance between Big B and Rekha were doing the rounds but Jaya Bachchan put her foot down and Amitabh and Rekha's romance eventually died down.

Saif Ali Khan: Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were a couple undeniably in love. Things were going strong and everyone was hoping for things to materialise into a marriage soon when suddenly Saif Ali Khan's name cropped up. While shooting for 'Tashan', Kareena's closeness with Saif meant she bid good-bye to loverboy Shahid and walked away with the Nawab. While Shahid decided to keep mum about their break-up, everyone saw Saif's 'Kareena' tattoo and came to their own conclusion.

Sridevi: Producer Boney Kapoor was happily married to wife Mona until Sridevi walked in. Mesmerised by Sridevi, Boney left his family and got married to Sridevi. Boney has children with both his ex-wife and Sridevi.

Virgins in Filmistan

Virgin no.1: Rakhi Sawant

Filmistan seems divided into two camps: the virgins and those who believe that it is unrealistic to expect a bride to be a virgin.

The virgins

Salman Khan is the most eligible bachelor of Bollywood, he has had a record of girlfriends. (See Salman Khan, film actor for what must surely be an abbreviated list.) He has dated popular Indian actresses like Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif, as well as the Romanian Iulia Vantur. He has mentored actresses like []Daisy Shah]]. However, actor Salman Khan shocked many when he let us in on a huge secret - that he's a virgin. Surprised? Well so was Karan Johar. "I am a virgin," admitted [or should that be 'claimed'?] Salman. "I'm going to save myself for the one that I get married to," he insisted to a shocked Karan.

Item girl Rakhi Sawant, too, claims she is a virgin.

When The Times of India told her that this fact was hard to believe considering she had been in a live-in relationship with her ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi, she said, "Yes I had a boyfriend, but the rules were different. Mujhe sex karne ka waqt hi nahi mila. [Trans: Kathalikka Neramillai] And now also I have so much to do, main soun ya kaam karun [Trans: Should I sleep or should I work?]?" the motormouth asked, adding that even if she has time now, there is no one deserving enough for her. "I am waiting for the right person in my life."

No one who has seen her will disbelieve her.

None of the gentlemen rumoured to be in Rakhi's life has denied her statement.

The not-virgins

Kashmera Shah, who is known for her bold avatar confessed that her relationship with Krushna began with a little twist. In an interview, Kashmera said, "It was a one-night stand for both of us.” While in the same interview, Krushna revealed, "Actually, Kash was giving me hints from the beginning itself. There was this instance when we were once seated in the van and the lights went off and I said, 'Ab kya kare?' Now that is something anyone would have said in that circumstance, and very suggestively our lady here says, 'Kyun, kuch kare?'

Ranbir Kapoor entered Bollywood and was linked up with many actresses. However, her most talked about affair was with Deepika Padukone. The patron goddess of the non-virgins

Filmstar Kushboo [North Indians spell her name 'Khushboo'] is no ordinaryu mortal. She is the only living deity in the world. In Tiruchirapalli there is--or used to be--a temple dedicated to worshipping her. Hers is the main idol that is worshipped in that temple.

In an interview to the Tamil India Today in 2005, Kushboo had said: "No educated man would expect his fiancée to be a virgin. But when involved in pre-marital sex, a woman should protect herself from becoming pregnant and contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

Her remarks about pre-marital sex and living together were made as part of a discussion on AIDS and HIV.

Her remarks enraged protestors who said Kushboo's reference to live-in relationships as a norm was seen as unacceptable, derogatory to women and against Tamil culture.

22 cases were filed against filmstar Kushboo in various parts of Tamil Nadu for remarks

The actor was subjected to a living hell literally holed up in her home, harassed at odd hours.

Chappals and eggs greeted her when she appeared in court forcing her to tender a public explanation.

And, of course, the temple was demolished.

Even the Madras High Court refused to dismiss the cases then.

The Madras High Court had ordered that the different cases against her be consolidated and dealt with in a joint trial.

The Supreme Court dismissed [all] 22 cases filed against filmstar Kushboo in various parts of Tamil Nadu for remarks that she made about pre-marital sex in an interview to the magazine in 2005.

While delivering its judgement, the Supreme Court asked: "When two adults want to live together, what is the offence?
