August 10, 2021: The Times of India
War veteran commodore KP Gopal Rao led a small task force that sank three Pakistan navy ships and bombed Karachi port in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
A Mahavir Chakra awardee, Rao, who was a commander at that time, led the task force of the western fleet that carried out an offensive sweep on the enemy coast of Karachi on December 4, 1971.
Born on November 13, 1926, Rao was commissioned into Navy in 1950. TNN
