=Morsi Taluk=
Taluk of Amraoti District, Berar, lying between
21° 12' and 21° 34' N. and 77° 48' and 78° 29' E., with an area of
622 square miles. The population fell from 152,374 in 1891 to
143734 in 190 1, its density in the latter year being 231 persons per
square mile. The taluk contains 231 villages and four towns, MorsI
(population, 8,313), the head-quarters, ANarud (7,179), Sendurjana
(6,860), and Ner Pinglai (5,408). The demand for land revenue in
1903-4 was Rs. 5, 1 8, 000, and for cesses Rs. 41,000. The taluk lies
chiefly in the fertile valley of the ^^'ardha river, which bounds it on the
east and south-east ; but a narrow tract along its north-western border
occupies the lower slopes of the Satpura Hills.
