==2019: holds National titles in all three formats==
Aravindh Chithambaram became the first Indian player to hold national titles in all three formats of the game simultaneously. The Madurai boy who lives in Chennai achieved this feat after winning the rapid and blitz crowns at the Nationals which concluded in Jalandhar.

Aravindh — who became the National Open senior champion (in classical format) last December — scored 10.5 points from 11 rounds to seal the rapid title. He followed that up by registering 10 wins from 11 clashes to clinch the blitz category. “It is a special feeling. Last December, when I won the senior Nationals in Jammu I never thought I would go on to be a champion in all the three formats of this game,” he told TOI on Tuesday. Aravindh — who became a GM in 2014 — caught the attention of many in 2017 after winning bronze in the World junior chess championship (U-20) in Tarviso, Italy. Subsequently, Aravindh has come up with creditable performances both on national and international circuit.
