Kolkata : Singer Anup Ghoshal offered balm to bruised souls with ‘Tujhse naraz nahi zindagi’ from Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom and was the voice behind Satyajit Ray’s iconic Goopy Gyne.

Brought up in a musical family, Ghoshal taught at Rabindra Bharati and wrote Ganer Bhubane, a book on Indian music. CM Mamata Banerjee described his demise as a huge loss. The Nazrulgeeti expert had also joined the political world and was elected an MLA of the governing TMC in 2011.
Anirudha Bhattacharjee, who has penned books on RD Burman and Kishore Kumar, said Ray had requested Kishore to put in a word so that Ghoshal could get gigs in Mumbai. “Kishore requested RD to get him to sing Tujhse naraz… in Masoom. It was a one-take okay song. Ghoshal even tried to emulate Kishore while singing. He didn’t charge anything for this song from producer Devi Dutt,” Bhattacharjee said.
