An Islamic view of the LeT
The website Takfiris.com has the following to say about the Lashkar-e-Taiba:
“Lashkar-e-Taiba is a Takfiri Khariji organization whose manhaj identifies with the writings and methodologies of Sayyid Qutb, Mohammad Qutb, Abu A'laa Mawdudi, Hasan al-Banna and other figureheads who were poisoned with that 20th century fikr which gave birth to destructive political movements that brought nothing but vile partisanship and a burdensome toil upon the hearts, minds and bodies of millions of Muslims in their lands. This organization shows the face of Ahl al-Sunnah but is in reality an Ikhwani, Aqlaani, Khaariji organization which does not guide itself by the Scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah and simply uses the issue of Kashmir as a means to garner support from the average Muslim (most of whom are ignorant of important matters of Tawhid and are left that way) in order to serve its own political ends. Unfortunately, little is available in refutation of this hizb in English, Urdu or Arabic with the exception of a book published in 2009 titled "Al-Burhaan Fi al-Radd alaa Lashkar Taibah al-Khaarijiyyah" (2009, Karachi) with an introduction by the noble Shaykh, Ahmad bin Yahyaa al-Najmee (rahimahullaah). This type of refutation is much needed because this group receives financial support to fund its misguided activities which are similar to the activities of al-Ikhwan in Egypt where political goals are more important than the da'wah to the Tawheed of Allaah and if there is any mention of the Tawheed of Allaah it is from the angle of lip service in order to please and placate others and to deflect criticism. As for instilling Tawhid into the hearts and minds of the Muslims as a general, boad, inclusive manhaj, then this sect is not concerned with that, despite the fact that the land in which it operates is a land which is in the direst need of that. Inshaa'Allaah we will serialize some of the material in aforementioned book which draws upon the very writings and publications of this Takfiri Kharijite sect to illustrate its misguidance and remoteness from the way of Ahl al-Sunnah and from the Scholars who invite to the Salafi aqidah and manhaj. [We ask Allaah to reward the brother who kindly presented this book to us].”

US President Donald Trump claimed Pakistan arrested Mumbai terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed “after a ten year search” because of the pressure his administration exerted over the past two years.
“After a ten year search, the so-called “mastermind” of the Mumbai Terror attacks has been arrested in Pakistan. Great pressure has been exerted over the last two years to find him!” Trump said in a tweet that caused surprise and invited some ridicule from regional experts because Saeed has never been in hiding to merit a search. He has been operating openly and is taken into protective custody by Pakistani authorities when there is international scrutiny following a terrorist attack.
“Finding him was never an issue. He operated freely and was highly visible. He has been arrested and released many times over. @POTUS shd immediately fire whoever gave him the wrong information,” Pakistans former ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani tweeted in response to Trump’s claim.
However, Trump’s tweet is evidently aimed at setting the stage for Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Washington DC next week, even at the risk of embarrassing his guest by publicly revealing the pressure that led to the arrest.
Khan is arriving in Washington DC on July 20/21 and is scheduled to meet Trump at the White House on July 22.
The Khan trip has been facilitated largely by US Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the Senate Armed Services committee who visited Pakistan earlier this year to find a way out for the US from the Afghan imbroglio. Since then, Pakistan appears to be ticking off the US wishlist in an effort to ingratiate itself again to Washington under a President with a known and whimsical preference for strongmen.
But Pakistan’s actions in incarcerating terrorists such as Hafiz Saeed generated the usual eye-rolls in the regional analysts’ community that has seen all this before as well. In fact, even before the US President’s tweet boasting about US pressure, analysts took a bleak view of Pakistan’s motive and bonafides on the matter.
“After watching this cycle over and over again with no serious attempt to bring justice to the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks over more than a decade, it’s hard to be anything other than cynical about this latest arrest,” tweeted Alyssa Ayres, a former deputy assistant secretary of state for South Asia and now a senior fellow for India, Pakistan, and South Asia at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). And from Georgetown University’s Christine Fair, who has investigated and written extensively on Pakistan’s patronage of terrorism: “Understand these arrests are ‘protective custody’ and have no mitigating impacts upon his operational control over his empire. Also Jaish-e-Mohammed is the primary jihad vehicle right now. So it’s low cost dramabazi for al Bakistan.”
Even Pakistani journalists snickered at the Khan government’s action. “Arrest. Free. Repeat,” Taha Siddiqui, a Pakistani journalist living in exile, wrote on Twitter.
